Ranger is a family-owned company with nearly 25 years experience in custom steel fabrication and plant maintenance services.
Originally founded in 1996 as a family-owned steel erection company by Bob and Gwynn Grutza, Ranger has grown dramatically. We have developed two custom steel fabrication facilities and expanded into the heavy industrial field. Our areas of expertise include custom metal fabrication, mechanical, electrical, pressure pipe, and boiler repair. And, we have earned a reputation as one of the industry leaders in plant maintenance services.

Dustin Grutza
Executive VP
Dustin has a BS in Industrial Management as well as an MBA, both from the University of Cincinnati. Dustin’s role has changed with the growth of the company. Since coming on board with Ranger in 2010, Dustin has moved from Project Manager and estimator, to VP of Executive Operations. From pressure pipe welds to client communication, Dustin spends a great deal of time focusing on the quality of service that Ranger is providing its customers.
Dustin also serves on the board for the local Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club, and University of Cincinnati Bicentennial Committee.

Jim Mitchell
VP of Operations
Jim joined the Ranger team in 1996 and plays a vital role as Vice President of Operations. In his years with Ranger Jim has managed projects working with coal power plants across the Midwest rebuilding coal unloaders, precipitators, air heaters, jet bubbling reactors (JBR), conveyor systems, duct systems, and high pressure pipe and boiler systems. In addition to his abilities as a project manager, Jim is a certified heavy equipment operator, crane operator, welder, forklift operator, qualified signaler, qualified rigger, certified spider crane operator, certified aerial lift operator, and certified scaffold builder. Jim has been a key component to the quality and success of Ranger during his 24 year tenure.

Bill Meredith
Director of Strategy & Estimation
“Bill” is in his first year of service with Team Ranger! He is charged with preparing bids, in addition to serving as our Senior Project Manager.

Justin Denham
HR Manager
Since early 2013, Justin has worked for CraftForce, an online staffing and HR Management company, acting as a Staffing director after earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University. In addition to Justin’s primary responsibilities, he oversees HR Management for Ranger through CraftForce.

Randy Wilson
Fab. Shop Manager
Randy has worked in steel fabricating & welding for over 40 years. He joined Ranger Steel in 1999 and was promoted to Fab Shop Manager in 2000, where he has served for 20+ years. During this time, he has managed our 20,000 sq. ft. fab shop and supervised many different types of projects for various applications including coal chutes & conveyors, storage tanks and other vessels, duct work ranging from 2’ to 25’ in diameter, handrail, platforms, ladders & cages. He also has vast experience in fabricating many types of chutes, including stainless steel, carbon & ceramic lined. He has fabricated several complete limestone rock crusher systems for Lime & Stone. Besides overseeing production at the fab shop, Randy also completes material take-offs, job quotes and job organization from start to finish.
Randy enjoys spending time with his grandkids and family and is a member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Jerry Clark
Safety Director
Jerry has been a leader in Safety & Industrial Hygiene for 26 years—continuously searching for methods to improve the Safety & Health of the workers while following governing agencies.
He has spent several years work for the US Department of Energy as a Safety Engineer at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant. He has also spent several years in the field of Power Generating Stations as a Safety Coordinator. With his OSHA training, Jerry is also an outreach teacher for the OSHA 10 and 30 hr classes. His areas of expertise include: OSHA Compliance, EPS compliance, Hazwoper, Haz-Mat, Hoisting & Rigging, Drug free work placed, CPR and First Aid, Emergency Management, Worker exposure, Safety Audits, Employee Health, Scaffolding, Ergonomics, asbestos inspector/planner, asbestos hazard evaluation specialist.
Jerry is an enthusiastic person who thrives in our changing environment and ensues that Ranger stays current in keeping our team & environment safe.

Jacob Griffin
Jacob(Jake) is in his second year of service with Ranger. He serves as an Executive Administrative Assistant and helps us lead the way through supporting implementations and providing process improvement through needs assessment.

Once the quotes are approved and the construction schedules are set, it’s time to get busy building. That’s where we earn our keep. Ranger Steel provides every work site with top-level supervisors and craftsmen familiar with industrial quality and safety requirements. Ranger will also assign an on-site Project Manager, who will be your key contact throughout your build, overseeing budgets, schedules, and overall progress.
Depending upon your specific project needs, your Ranger team will likely consist of millwrights, mechanics, welders, electricians and operators, who are all cross-trained to supply you with the best, most-experienced and versatile skillsets possible. You can trust that each and every person on your project will have expertise in all the necessary precautions, equipment, and tools to safely complete the job. They’ll know the work tasks required, backwards and forwards, as well as the order of work to be completed. We are experts at what we do and it’s our job to make your job easier.
